Dental hygiene

Dental hygiene is the therapeutic practice of keeping one’s mouth healthy. An unbalanced diet, smoking, wrong everyday habits, lack of time, incorrect tooth brushing encourage the formation of plaque and eventually tartar.

To solve the problem and avoid the damages related to it, it is very important to undergo professional teeth cleaning every 4/6/8/12 months, according to the patient’s needs.

Why should you go to the dentist for a teeth cleaning?

  • you will have healthy instead of bleeding gingiva
  • you will prevent periodontal diseases (gingivitis and periodontitis)
  • you will prevent caries
  • you will avoid bad breath
  • you will live a better life, healthy and free from pain caused by dental diseases
  • you will get a beautiful and healthy smile.

Beyond professional teeth cleaning, good everyday oral hygiene is also fundamental to prevent periodontal diseases.

Brushing shall never be too aggressive to avoid abrasion and gingival recession. We suggest our patients to use a medium-bristled toothbrush.

However, brushing alone (even with an electric toothbrush) is not enough to remove plaque. Flossing and interdental brushing are equally important.

Our hygienists are at your disposal to explain you all aspects of a correct oral hygiene.
