Dental prosthesis is used to restore in the best possible way aesthetics and functionality of existing teeth or to replace missing teeth with long-lasting ones. We use innovative materials such as compounds and ceramics to ensure effective results from a functional, non-allergenic and aesthetic point of view.
Fixed, semi-fixed or removable prosthesis. Which one is better?
- Fixed prosthesis: fixed prosthesis substitutes the natural tooth structure and is permanently screwed or cemented to teeth or implants. Prostheses include veneers, crowns or bridges cemented to natural teeth, therefore patients cannot remove them by themselves. Among fixed prostheses, crowns are the most common types of dental restoration.
- Semi-fixed prosthesis: semi-fixed prosthesis is placed on implants and anchors to hooks or attacks. It can be removed easily for cleaning, it is light and extremely stable and usually does not affect chewing and speech.
- Mobile prosthesis: mobile prosthesis is used to replace all teeth or some of them. The patient can remove it by himself to clean it. Mobile prosthesis can be partial (metal structure called RPD – removable partial denture) or total (commonly called denture).
Each prosthesis is a highly complex and compound device. Battaglia Dental Clinic’s team is highly qualified and can advise you when choosing a prosthesis that best fits your needs.
